3.
REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Description. The magnetic particle clutch actuator
covered by this specification operates the torpedo control
surface through an appropriate linkage. Input power is
supplied from the torpedo drive shaft by means of toothed
pulleys and belt to two magnetic particle clutches which
derive their control power from the servoamplifier. The
clutches drive a gear reduction unit and in turn an output
arm through which the control surface positions are accom-
plished. Incorporated in the gear reduction unit is a dual
potentiometer, one section of which supplies an actuator
