-15 F (-26 C) and below. Either of these oils can be used at ambient temperatures between
+40 F (+4 C) and -15 F (-26 C).
3.2.3 Recycled, virgin and reclaimed materials. There are no requirements for the exclusive use
of virgin materials. The use of recycled or reclaimed (recovered) materials is acceptable provided
that all other requirements of this specification are met (see 6.3.2).
3.3 Construction. Actuator assemblies shall conform to the appropriate drawing listed in 2.1.2,
and type specified in 1.2.
3.3.1 Interchangeability of parts. Component parts and assemblies of each actuator assembly
shall be so constructed that any part(s), may be installed in a like assembly without modification.
3.4 Performance.
3.4.1 General performance - Type I and Type II actuator assemblies.
3.4.1.1 Proof pressure. The actuator assembly shall withstand testing per 4.6.1 without external
leakage or deformation and shall subsequently meet all requirements of 3.4.1.2 through 3.4.4.
3.4.1.2 General external leakage. When tested as specified in 4.6.2, there shall be no visible
external leakage.
3.4.1.3 Shaft seal leakage. There shall be no visible external leakage past shaft seal 12331881
when tested per 4.6.3.
3.4.1.4 Intentionally left blank.
3.4.1.5 Total shaft rotation. When tested per 4.6.5, total shaft rotation shall be 72 degrees plus
or minus 1 degree.
3.4.1.6 Breakout pressure. The pressure required to initiate shaft rotation shall not exceed
300 psi (2070 kPa) and operation shall be smooth over total rotation range when tested per 4.6.6.
3.4.2 Performance - Type I actuator assembly.
3.4.2.1 Internal leakage. Internal leakage shall not exceed the rates specified in table I (see 4.6.7,
4.6.9 thru 4.6.15, 4.6.17, and 4.6.18).
3.4.2.2 Relief valve setting. Relief valve shall open at 4200 100 psi (19 Lpm minimum flow at
28,960 690 kPa), when tested per 4.6.16.
