3.4.4 When the contract or order specifies that the compressor units shall be nonmagnetic the
materials of construction shall be selected such that the magnetic permeability of the compressor
component unit (less motor and controller) after fabrication will be 2.0 or less measured by a perme-
ability indicator conforming to Specification MIL-I-17214.
1 In order to achieve the desired low permea bility after fabrication it is advisable to choose
materials which have a permeability prior to fabrication of 1. 2 or less when materials whose perme-
ability} is affected by fabrication (CRES) are used.
