MIL-C-38418E(AS)
3.7.1
Amplifier Channels - The amplifier channels shall contain
modular plug-in assemblies (3.5.1).
3.7.2
Fast  synchronization  and  Heading  Set  Drive - An
electromechanical mechanism shall be provided to cause synchronization of
the azimuth servo to the magnetic azimuth detector when operating in the
SLAVED mode and shall position the azimuth servo to any desired reference
to set the heading outputs when operating the control assembly in the DG
The mechanism shall have a drive rate continuously variable in
mode.
either direction up to 30 per second as selected by the heading set
control specified in 3.8.3.  The mechanism shall be suitably damped to
permit accurate synchronization and selection of the desired reference.
3.7.2.1 Push-to-Synchronize Circuit - The design of the circuit shall be
such that when the heading set control (3.8.3.1) is pressed and held, and
the mode selector (3.8.2) is in the SLAVED mode of operation, the control
assembly shall synchronize to the magnetic azimuth detector heading:
within 6 seconds for the ASK-32/A24G-39 electronic control

amplifier.
within 8 seconds for the ASK-44/A24G electronic control
b.
amplifier.
3.7.2.2 Automatic Autopilot Decoupling - The continuity between
connector 2J3-14 and 2J3-15 of table IV shall be transferred to between
connector 2J3-13 and 2J3-15 incident to and during sychronization,
slewing, and compass mode conditions only.  The design shall be such that
the transfer must be made before fast synchronization can be actuated.
3.7.3 Heading Servos - the heading servo shall have a minimum follow-up
rate of 60 per second to maintain synchronization with the
displacement gyroscope signals throughout all maneuvers.  Operation shall
be smooth with no  lag in excess of  0.3 per rpm up to 5 rpm in
heading.  No oscillation, hunting, or jumping of a magnitude or frequency
that will affect the operation of a high-performance automatic  flight
The undamped natural frequency shall be
control system shall occur.
greater than 6 Hz.  The heading servo shall position the rotors of four
data transmitter synchros.
3.7.4 Magnetic slaving and and Erection Control - Provisions shall be made
for erection control, and where applicable, for interrupting slaving of
the directional gyro.  Erection control shall operate under all modes of
operation.  Magnetic slaving cutout shall be effective when the control
assembly is in  the SLAVED mode. Actuation circuitry for turn rate
control and fore-aft acceleration control shall be contained in the
electronic control amplifier.
