4.6.5.3.1.2 SLAVED Mode - Turn the mode selector switch on the compass
system controller to the  SLAVED position and synchronize the control
assembly by depressing and holding the heading set control knob on the
compass  system controller until the servoed  repeater  stops rotating.
With  the  compass  system  controller  having the
timed  automatic
synchronization  specified  in 3.8.3.2,  synchronization  will take place
automatically within 10 +2 seconds after switching to SLAVED mode.  Note
that the sync  indicator  -- pointer on the compass system controller is
centered within 1/16 inch.  The procedure shall then be as follows:
a.
right-turn
Rotate  the
displacement
gyroscope
through a
heading change of 600.
b.
Rotate  the azimuth detector  through a  right-turn  heading
change to produce a compass system controller sync indicator null.  Null
shall be achieved with a right-turn heading  rotation of approximately
60 .
Hold the heading set  control knob on the compass system
c.
controller depressed and rotate the azimuth detector through a right-turn
heading change.
The transmitted  heading signal  from the electronic
control amplifier shall increase.
system
d.
Turn  the  mode  selector
switch on
the
compass
controller to the DG position.
4.6.5.3.1.3 Compass or Emergency Mode - Turn the mode selector switch on
the compass system controller to the COMP or EMERG position.  The sync
indicator pointer on the compass system controller shall become centered
and the control assembly heading shall stabilize.
The procedure shall
then be as follows:
a.
Rotate the displacement gyroscope through a turn of 60
10. The control assembly heading shall not change.
b.
Rotate the azimuth detector through right and left turns of
60 10. The control assembly heading output shall follow the
azimuth detector smoothly.
c.
Turn  the  mode  selector
system
switch on
the
compass
controller to the DG position.
4.6.5.3.2 Roll Correspondence and Rotational Polarity - The displacement
gyroscope shall be positioned to a right-wing-down roll angle of 30.
The transmitted roll signal from the electronic control amplifier shall
be 30 1.  The displacement gyroscope shall be returned to a level
position.
