MIL-C-51542(EA)
(g) Output frequency.  With the load applied (4.4.4.2(d)) measure
the output frequency of the converter on each phase.  This frequency shall be
as specified.
5.
PACKAGING
5.1 Interplant shipment (see 6.4).  The converter shall be unit packed and
packed to provide adequate protection from physical damage from the supply
source to the first receiving activity for immediate use or further processing.
Shipping containers shall be in compliance with the rules and regulations appli-
cable to the mode of transportation.  Marking shall be in accordance with FED.
TEST METHOD STD. NO. 123, and shipping containers shall include the contrac-
tor's name, address, contract number, and date of manufacture.
5.2 Repair parts (see 6.2).  When this item is being procured for storage
and issue as a repair part, unit packing, packing, and marking shall be as
specified in SPI P5-19-6425.
NOTES
6.
6.1 Intended use.  This specification covers a static converter to enable an
M56, XM59 or XM62 collective protection filter unit to operate from a 208 V, 60
Hz, 3-phase power source.
Acquisition documents should specify the following:
6.2 Ordering data.
(a) Title, number, and date of this specification.
(b) Whether interplant shipment or repair parts packaging is required.
(c) Preproduction:
(1) Time allowed for contractor submission of samples for Govern-
ment test and evaluation after award of contract.
(2) Name and address of test facility and shipping instructions
when testing is performed by the Government.
(3) Time required for the Government to notify the contractor
whether or not to proceed with production.
6.3 Test load.  It is required that the performance test specified in
4.4.4.2 be conducted with a 7 to 8 amp load on the output of the converter. It
is necessary that the starting surge current of this load not exceed 35 amps
for 5 seconds.  It has been found that the main fan (Dwg 5-19-6137) from an
XM62 filter unit, when operated at a free flow condition, satisfies the load
requirements for this test.  In addition, the rotational direction of the
impeller can be observed to verify proper phasing of the converter output as
required in 4.4.4.2(d).  Neutral is isolated from ground (chassis) in this fan
(4.4.4.2(d)).  For safety, a separate line should be run from fan chassis to
earth ground.  If a load other than a 5-19-6137-20 main fan is used, it must be
determined whether neutral is common with chassis in the load and caution must
be exercised to maintain isolation between the converter output neutral and
ground.
