For straight air brakes, provide lining per
SAE J866, code EE, EF, or FF, having
identical friction valve on all lining segments.
For disc type brakes, provide linings of the
semi-metallic or full-metallic types

Drum - Rear Brake.
Provide brake drums of the heaviest regular
production optional weight available.
Provide drums of the outboard mounted type to
facilitate brake maintenance without hub
removal, when available.
VMRS 13-002-028
Adjuster - Rear Brake Slack.
Self-adjusters for each wheel providing correct
compensation for lining wear without lock-up
or unbalance and manual means to adjust the
foundation brakes initally and in case of
malfunction.
VMRS 13-004
Spring Parking Brake.
With straight air brakes, provide 2 ea. (with
single axle) or 4 ea. (with tandem and tridem
axles) heavy duty spring type emergency-
parking brake actuators on each axle, as
necessary to prevent wheel rotation at GVWR
on grades up to a min. 30 percent.
Provide means on each trailer to cage the
springs.
Provide environmental protective covers,
boots, and seals on each chamber.
VMRS 13-006
Brake Master Cylinder.
With surge brake systems, provide master
cylinder actuater and installation to comply
with SAE J684.
Provide surge brake actuaters per tabulation C,
based on GVWR.
