Specify the intended operating equipment or set payload, if known, or
cite the GVWR for the applicable size specification sheet trailer
chassis.
Also, specify which equipment mount boltholes on the trailer chassis
shall be drilled by the contractor. Also, specify when and how to
mount and secure the intended equipment permanently onto each
trailer chassis (see 3.11).

Furnish brake systems as specified to coincide with all of the
Government user's brake system needs specified (see 3.12, table II,
VMRS 13).

Furnish air ride trailer suspension system to protect the operating
equipment from damaging ride (see 3.12, table II, VMRS 16-008).

Furnish a hubodometer assembly, when needed by Government users
(see 3.12, table II, VMRS 51-002-001).

Furnish, a trailer frame of special low temperature steel for cold region
(arctic) operations (see 3.12, table II, VMRS 77-012-002).

Furnish a trailer chassis with a trailer body as specified in table III or
as detailed by the Government user (see 3.13 table III).

assembly.

Specify when other than the contractors selection of FRP or

Specify when and which logistic tracks are required, type E

Specify when an insulation between the outer skin and

Furnish various chassis components as specified (see 3.14).

Furnish a military vehicle electrical system, in addition to the 12 volt
TTMA commercial system, to permit towing of the trailer chassis by
Military Design trucks (3.15).
6.3 First article model. Any changes or deviations of production chassis from the approved
first article model during production will be subject to the approval of the contracting officer.
Approval of the first article will not relieve the contractor of his obligation to furnish trailers
conforming to this specification.
