184.108.40.206.4 Conditioned impact. Condition the batten spreaders at -40 ±5 °F
(-40 ±3 °C) and at that temperature subject the spreaders to the test
spcified in 220.127.116.11.2. Nonconformance to 18.104.22.168 shall constitute failure of
22.214.171.124.5 orders of testing. The batten Spreader impact test (see
126.96.36.199.2) shall be performed first. The stiffness and strength test (see
188.8.131.52.1) will then be performed on the same sample. The conditioned impact
test (see 184.108.40.206.4) shall be performed on a separate sample and the residual
deflection test (see 220.127.116.11.3) shall be performed on a separate sample.
18.104.22.168 Batten spreader adapter. Specimens of the material from which the
batten spreader adapters are to be manufactured shall be tested as specified
in table VI. Nonconformance to 3.6 shall constitute failure of this test.
4.5.3 Reliablility. Using the reliability specified in 3.10, the camouflage
screening support system shall be tested as specified herein.
TABLE VI. Test for physical requirements of batten spreader adapter material.
22.214.171.124 Failure definition. A failure is defined as any malfunction of the
support system which the operator or crew cannot correct by repair or
replacement action using maintenance tools, available spares, or
the repair kit within 15 minutes and which cause or may cause:
a. Failure to commence operation, cessation of operation, or degradation
of performance capability of system/subsystem below designated level.
b. Serious damage to system/subsystem by continued operation.
c. Serious personnel safety hazards.
126.96.36.199 Test procedure. For reliability purposes a test cycle is defined
as unpacking, erecting, utilizing a camouflage screen module, disassembly and
repacking a single suport system. A sample size of 6 support systems will be
