corrosion resistant.
Maximum use shall be made of interchangeable hardware and fasteners.  Means for
complete draining of lubricants, fuel and condensate traps shall be provided in
an accessible location and shall be accessible for draining to a container
without splashing on any component.  All maintenance, assembly, or disassemble
operations shall be accomplished with common tools and special tools furnished
with the compressor.  The maintenance ratio (MR) shall not exceed 0.05 (see
6.3.2).
The rated capacity of the compressor shall be not less than

20 cfm or free air at a delivery pressure of 5000 pounds per square inch (psi)
when tested as specified in 4.5.2,16.
3.7.1 Endurance.
The compressor shall operate as specified herein for 500
consecutive hours without failure.
At the end of this 500 hour period, the
decrease in output shall be not more than 1.5 cfm when delivering air at a
pressure of 5000 psi, when tested in accordance with 4.2.13.
The compressor shall deliver the rated capacity at
3.7.2 Tilted operation.
5000 psi for not less than 30 minutes when tilted in any position at an angle of
15 degrees from the horizontal.
The compressor shall stand for not less than 2
hours in a tilted position without any evidence of leaks; faulty lubrication,
cooling, or fuel supply and distribution; lubricant spill-over; or reduced
performance upon starting after standing in this position (when tested as in
4.5.2.8).

reciprocating design with not less than four stages.  The direction of rotation
shall be indicated on the unit.
3.8.2 Cooling.
The compressor shall be entirely air cooled.
Intercoolers
shall be provided to remove the heat of compression between consecutive stages,
An aftercooler shall be provided.
All coolers shall have the capacity to cool
the air after compression to a temperature of not more than the ambient
temperature plus 25 F in the ambient temperature range of plus 10 F to plus
In the ambient temperature range of plus 10 F to minus 25 F, positive
