NOTES:
Occasionally the last round of a continuous belt, due to
the light weight of the cartridge case, will not fully eject from
the weapon.  This type of failure shall not be classified as a
weapon stoppage nor shall it be recorded as a defect chargeable
to the ammunition.  All other stoppages attributable to the
ammunition, with the exception of misfire, complete
circumferential rupture, or failure to extract, shall be included
in this defect category.
Primer defect descriptions:
a.  Blown primer.  A primer which, when the cartridge is
fired is separated completely from the head of the case and the
primer pocket are grossly distorted and deformed.  The severity
of this condition is such that it is readily detectable by visual
examination.
b.  Dropped primer.  A primer which falls from the primer
pocket after  the cartridge is fired.
For location of defects indicated in parenthesis, see
drawing 7643674.
If the function and casualty defects plus firing defects
observed in all other tests exceed the acceptance number, the
qualification sample shall be rejected.

First article inspection.
4.4
4.4.1 Submission.  The contractor shall submit a first
article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for
evaluation IAW provisions of 4.4.2.  The first article sample
shall consist of the following items in the quantities indicated:

4.4.2 Inspection to be performed.  As determined by the
Government, the first article assemblies, components, and test
specimens may be subjected to any or all of the examinations and
tests specified in this detail specification (See Table IV and
MIL-A-48078) and be inspected for compliance with any or all
requirements of the applicable drawings.

4.4.3 Rejection.
Article sample to be IAW the applicable drawings and requirements
of Table III. and Table IV. as specified herein, will result in
disapproval of the First Article.
