4.6.2.3 Temperature/humidity cycling.  The cartridges shall
be conditioned IAW MIL-STD-810, Test 507, Procedure III.  After
completion of the conditioning the cartridges shall be fired in
25 round bursts in the weapon with BFA, using the inspection
equipment shown on EL8649406.  The cyclic rate shall be recorded.
4.6.2.4 Long term storage.

4.6.2.4.1 Long term high temperature storage. After
storage for 30 days of continuous heating at 65C 5C (150F 9F)
and 10 to 20% relative humidity, condition the cartridges at 20C
2C (68F 3F) for 24 hours.  Upon completion of the conditioning
the cartridges shall be fired in 10 round bursts in the weapon
with BFA, using the inspection equipment shown on EL8649406.
Record the cyclic rate.
Any cartridge failures shall be
recorded.
If any cartridges fail the test at 65C, a retest shall
be performed on cartridges stored at 50C 5C (122F 3F) and 10 to
20% relative humidity for 120 days.

After
4.6.2.4.2 Long term low temperature storage.
storage for 30 days at -40C 5C (-40F 9F), condition the
-
cartridges at 20C 2C (68F 3F) for 24 hours.  Upon completion of
the conditioning the cartridges shall be fired in 10 round bursts
in the weapon with BFA, using the inspection equipment shown on
EL8649406.  Record the cyclic rate.  Any cartridge failures shall
be recorded.
4.6.2.5 Rough handling.

4.6.2.5.1 Transportation-vibration and drop test.  Four
hundred cartridges packed in two wirebound boxes shall be
subjected to the transportation-vibration test IAW TOP 1-2-601.
Two hundred rounds shall be tested at -50C 5C (-58F 9F), and
200 rounds shall be tested at 70C 5C (158F 9F).  Record any
damage to the packaging and cartridges.  After completion of this
test, 200 each of the same cartridges shall be subjected to the
1.5 meter, loose cargo, and 2.1 meter drop tests IAW TOP 4-2602.
After completion of these tests the cartridges shall be fired in
10 round bursts in the weapon with BFA, using the inspection
equipment shown on EL8649406.  Record the cyclic rate. Any
cartridge failures shall be recorded.
4.6.2.5.2 12 meter drop test.  Four hundred cartridges
Packed in two wirebound boxes shall be subjected to the 12 meter
(40 ft) drop test IAW TOP 4-2-601. Two hundred rounds shall be
tested at -50C 5C (-58F 9F), and 200 rounds shall be tested at
70C 5C (158F 9F).  Record any damage to the packaging and
cartridges.
