4.6.4  Test validity.  If for any reason the test agency
considers that the test conditions have detrimentally affected
the test results, the test shall be declared invalid and new test
shall be performed with additional samples.
4.6.5  Defect penalty.  In any ballistic test in which the
occurrence of a firing defect prevents the obtaining of a
reliable result for the characteristic being tested, an
additional shot shall be fired.  That particular test shall not
be penalized, but the acceptance sample shall be penalized for
such defects IAW the appropriate firing defects table.  Firing
defects are shown on tables Table II, Table IV, or Table VI.
PACKAGING
5.
The contractor shall package the
5.1 Packaging level A.
linked blank ammunition in the M2A1 metal ammunition container.
7553296 IAW 12576457.  The container shall contain 100 cartridges
when linked with the M9 link and shall contain 85 cartridges when
linked with the M15A2 link.  The contractor shall devise suitable
internal dunnage for the M2A1 container to insure that the
packaged ammunition is protected from any damage when subjected
to the rough handling tests in 3.5.5.  Shipment shall be made IAW
CFR TITLE 49 and MIL-STD-129.
5.2  Packaging level A. The loaded M2A1 metal containers
shall be placed in the wood wirebound box, 7553347, in pairs IAW
the packaging instructions on drawing 12576456.  Shipment shall
be made IAW CFR TITLE 49 and MIL-STD-129.
5.3 Marking.  Containers shall be marked IAW MIL-STD-129
and CFR 49.  Drawing 12576456 shall be used for marking format
but not content.  A Performance Oriented Packaging symbol shall
be provided by the Government after successful completion of
Performance oriented Packaging Tests (see 5.6) and documentation
in a test report provided to the Government.  Proper Shipping
Name and UN Identification Marking shall be provided by the
Government on successful completion of Hazard Classification
Testing (see 4.6.3).  All other marking shall be as specified in
the contract.
5.4 Palletization.  Packaged wood wirebound boxes shall be
palletized IAW the quantities and procedures shown on drawing
19-48-4116/14.
5.5  Documentation of technical data. All information
needed to package, pack, and palletize the ammunition for both
link configurations shall be provided to the Government in
Level 3 format IAW DOD-STD-100.
