3.6 Performance.
3.6.1 Endurance.  The drying tumbler shall operate for 20 hours when tested
as specified in 4.6.1.  There shall be no damage to any component throughout the
test and all electrical and mechanical components shall function properly,
There shall be no evidence of the following conditions during the test:
a.
Improper interrelationship of components.
b.
Improper sequence of operational control devices.
Overheated bearings.
c.
d.
Structural failures,
Improper fit, tightness or alignment of components.
e.
f.
Improper cycle time.
Improper operation of controls.
g.
h.
Excessive vibration,
Excessive noise.
i.
3.6.2 Drying of sheets, blankets and trousers.  The drying tumbler shall dry
cotton sheets (MIL-S-36868), wool blankets (type I or 11 of MIL-B-844) and
trousers (MIL-T-44047) when tested as specified in 4.6.2.  Dry for cotton and
wool shall be defined as not more than 5 percent moisture content or when normal
dry weight is increased by not more than 5 percent.  Dry for trousers shall be
defined as not more than 7 percent moisture content.  When tested as specified
in 4.6.2, the final drying weights of the materials shall be as follows:
a. Blankets
31.5 pounds
31.5 pounds
b.  Sheets
c.  Trousers
32.1 pounds
3.6.3 Door switch.  The door switch shall prevent operation of the burner
assembly and tumbler drive motor when tested as specified in 4.6.3 and 4.6.4,
3.6.4 Post purge control.  The post purge control shall cause excess
combustion by products to be exhausted from the burner chamber and flexible
metal exhaust hose when tested as specified in 4.6.4 and 4.6.5.
3.6.5 High limit control.  The high limit control shall be factory preset at
275F and shall be normally closed and shall open on temperature rise.  The
control shall deactivate the burner when tested as specified in 4.6.6.
3.6.6 Operating control.  The operating control shall allow the exhaust air
temperature to be within 10F for the 135 and 200 temperature settings and
15F for the 2500 temperature setting when tested as specified in 4.6.7.
