3,6.7 Flame safeguard control.  The flame safeguard control shall be capable
of operating in ambient temperatures from -40F to 125F.  The flame pickup
scanner shall be capable of operating in ambient temperatures from -40F to
212F.  The control shall provide an initial startup flame failure lockout as
specified in 3.6.7.1 and a firing period flame failure lockout as specified in
3.6,7.2,
3.6.7.1 Flame failure, initial start safety lockout. When tested as
specified in 4.6.8 the flame safeguard control system shall operate in sequence
as follows ( 2 seconds):
Provide a 7 second purge.
a.
b.
Provide a 10 second trial for ignition.  No flame will be picked up
by the sensor and the fuel solenoid valve and ignition transformer
shall be de-energized by the safeguard control at the end of this
10 second period (lockout).
The blower shall continue to operate and purge the system for 60
c.
( 5) seconds after lockout occurs.
An alarm signal shall activate no more than 90 seconds after start-up,
d.
3.6,7.2 Flame failure, firing period safety lockout.  When tested as
specified in 4.6.9 the flame safeguard control system shall operate in sequence
as follows ( 2 seconds):
a.
Provide a 4 second response time to de-energize the fuel solenoid
valve after flame failure.
Provide a 10 second purge cycle.
b.
Provide a 10 second trial for ignition (activation of fuel sole-
c.
noid and ignition spark). No flame will be picked up by the sensor
and the fuel solenoid and ignition transformer shall be de-
energized by the safeguard control at the end of this 10 second
period (lockout),
The blower shall continue to operate and purge the system for 60

( 5) seconds after lockout occurs.
An alarm signal shall activate no more than 90 seconds after manual

3.6.8 Signal flame.  The flame control shall not be effected by the ignition
spark and shall have a failure response time of less than 6 seconds, when tested
as specified in 4.6.10,
