MIL-D-45502B
*
3.3.1.4 Dust.  Drives shall operate after exposure to sand and dust
as specified in method 510 of MIL-STD-810. Testing shall be as specified
in 4.4.
*
3.3.1.5 Salt fog.  Drives shall operate after exposure to a salt-
laden atmosphere as specified In Method 509 of MIL-STD-810. Testing shall
be as specified in 4.4.
*
3.3.1.6 Fungus resistance.  Drives shall operate after exposure to
fungus as specified in Method 508 of MIL-STD-810. Testing shall be as
specified in 4.4.
*
3.3.1.7 Vibration.  Drives shall withstand a vibration of 80 Hz with
the motor turning for 400 duty cycles. A duty cycle shall be defined as
time-on for 3 seconds and time-off for 5 seconds. After each series (5 duty
cycles), the motor shall be stopped and cooled to ambient temperature.
Cleaning and lubrication shall be accomplished after each 2 series. The
magnitude and direction of vibration shall be resultant of 0.15 inch total
excursion parallel to the drive rotor axis and 0.40 inch total excursion
perpendicular to the drive rotor axis. In addition, with the motor stopped,
the drive shall withstand vibration of 80 Hz at 0.40 inch total excursion
in a direction parallel to the drive rotor axis for a period of one (1)
hour. The amplitude of vibration shall be within 10 percent of the
specified values. Testing shall be as specified in 4.4.
*
3.3.2 Functioning.
Drives shall function when assembled to a slave
M61/M61A1 gun or operated under rated load defined in 3.3.2.2 at ambient
temperature when supplied the power input specified in 3.3.2.1 without
stoppage or unserviceable parts. During a duty cycle (time-on for 2
seconds), drives shall rotate in the direction specified on Drawing F7269497
and accelerate to a minimum or 667 revolutions per minute (rpm) in not
more than 0.4 seconds, achieve a steady rate of 667 to 730 rpm and come
to a complete stop from the steady state rate in 0.2 to 0.4 seconds. The
steady state rate (average drive rpm) shall be calculated using the last
50 percent of the duty cycle, excluding the stoppage time. Testing shall
be as specified in 4.5.3.5.
*
3.3.2.1 Power input.  Drives shall operate as specified herein when
supplied with a steady state line-to-neutral voltage for the three phases
(measured at the drive) of 110 to 115 volts and a steady state frequency
of 466 to 480 HZ.
