5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5.1. Packing. Packing shall be level A, B, or C as specified.
5.1.1 Level A. The drivers shall be packed together in a close-fitting box conforming to
PPP-B-601, overseas type, style optional or PPP-B-621, class 2, style optional, in quantities not
to exceed the weight limitations of the applicable box specification. The drivers shall be
blocked, braced, and anchored within the box in a manner to prevent movement. The box shall
be closed and strapped in accordance with the appendix to the applicable box specification.
Strapping shall be zinc coated.
5.1.2 Level B. Drivers shall be packed as specified in 5.1.1 for level A except boxes
shall be domestic type or class as applicable and strapping need not be zinc coated. As an
alternate, the drivers shall be packed in a close-fitting box conforming to PPP-B-640, class 2,
style D, with a No. 4 end, in quantities not to exceed the weight limitation of the box
specification. The drivers shall be secured in a manner to prevent movement. Closure shall be
with nails as specified in the appendix to the box specification. Strapping shall be flat steel
applied in accordance with the appendix to the box specification.
5.1.3 Level C. The drivers shall be packed in a manner to assure carrier acceptance and
safe delivery to destination at lowest ratings in compliance with Uniform Freight Classification
rules or National Motor Freight Classification rules.
5.2 Marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
6. NOTES
6.1 Intended use. The pin driver is intended for use in facilitating removal of pins for
dismantling the class 60 floating bridge or for operation of raft ramp approaches.
6.2 Ordering data. Procurement documents should specify the following:
(a) Title, number, and date of this specification.
(b) Time frame required for submission of the preproduction model (see 3.2).
(c) Level of packing required (see 5.1).
