the functional result of control movements (ON, OFF, RAISE, LOWER, LEFT, RIGHT). Valve
controls shall be provided with double-ended arrows showing the direction of operations and
labeled at each end to indicate the functional result (open and close). Distributors having the
turnup feature shall be provided with mechanical means to vertically adjust spray height when
desired. Spraybar extensions that allow spraying to 24 feet (7.32 m) in width shall be provided.
Each extension section shall be no greater than 2 feet (.6096 m) in length. Lateral movement
shall not be less than 8 inches (203.2 mm) each way from center. The spraybar shall be provided
with a breakaway feature to protect it from damage in the event an obstruction is hit by the
spraybar.
3.11 Attachments. The following attachments shall be provided and shall be the latest
model of the standard product of the offeror:
a. Two 15-foot (4.57 m) sections of filling hose equipped with quick-disconnect fittings.
b. Bitumeter wheel.
c. Control in the cab to raise and lower the bitumeter wheel.
d. Box for storage of spraybar extension sections.
e. A hand-spray attachment with not less than 25 feet (7.62 m) of hose.
f. Signal gong for rear operator-driver communication.
g. Distribution charts encased in a transport protective material.
h. Strainers (manhole, asphalt fill line, asphalt pump).
i. Pump tachometer, calibrated in gallons per minutes, in truck cab.
j. Speed and distance indicator reading in feet per minute, located in truck cab.
k. Toolbox with hasp.
3.12 Special tools. Any special tools required for operation and operator maintenance of the
distributor, except chassis, shall be provided with each truck-mounted distributor (see 6.2).
Special tools shall be securely mounted in a readily accessible location.
3.13 Maintenance characteristics. The truck mounted distributor design, together with the
accessories, shall permit ready access to all items requiring periodic maintenance service in the
field. Periodic maintenance will be accomplished with the use of conventional general-purpose
tools normally associated with equipment of this type. The adjustment of components and
accessories shall be accomplished with minimum drainage requirements and minimum
disturbance to other elements of the distributor.
3.14 Mounting. The distributor shall be mounted on a Government-furnished 5-ton truck
chassis with not less than 4 mounting devices per side (see 6.2). Each mounting device shall
