increment shall include data from the noisiest position. Additionally, the noise level at the
typical operating position shall be provided as dB(A) level. Failure to comply with
MIL-STD-1474 provisions shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6 Run-in. Each distributor shall be run-in in accordance with the manufacturer's standard
practice. The run-in shall be of a 20 minute duration. The standard practice procedure, with
appropriate failure criteria, must be approved by the Government. Any failure during the run-in
shall be cause for rejection of the distributor.
4.7 Inspection of packaging. The preservation, packaging and marking of the truck and
equipment shall be examined to determine compliance with the applicable quality assurance
provisions of MIL-D-771 and the addition requirements in section 5 specified herein.
5 PACKAGING
5.1 Preservation. Preservation shall be level A, B, or C as specified (see 6.2).
5.1.1 Level A and B. Each complete distributor shall be preserved in accordance with the
applicable level A or B requirements of MIL-D-771.
5.1.2 Level C. The critical surfaces required for fit or function shall be protected by
preservation coatings, volatile corrosion inhibitors or dessicated packs. A guide shall be
furnished indicating the preservation materials to be removed, in detail, and any other servicing
required prior to placing the distributor in operation.
5.2 Packing. Packing shall be level A, B, or C as specified (see 6.2).
5.2.1 Level A and B. Each complete distributor, preserved as specified in 5.1, shall be
packed in accordance with the applicable level A or B requirements of MIL-D-771.
5.2.2 Level C. Each complete distributor shall be suitably packed for retail distribution
directly to a using customer and in a manner to assure carrier acceptance and safe delivery to the
destination at lowest ratings in compliance with carrier rules and regulations applicable to the
mode of transportation
5.3 Marking. In addition to any special marking specified in the contract or purchase order
(see 6.2), marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
6. NOTES

6.1 Intended use. The truck-mounted distributor is intended for distributing liquid bitumen
for road and airfield construction.
