4.3.1 First article examination. Prior to the first article demonstration, the distributor shall be
examined for the defects marked "X" in column 1 of table I. Presence of one or more defects shall be cause
for rejection. Prior to the first article demonstration the distributor shall be examined and compared with
this specification, with the contractor's published brochures and with commercial manuals. Any
discrepancy between the specification, brochures, manuals and the first article models shall be cause for
rejection.
4.3.2 First article demonstration. Upon successful completion of the examination specified in 4.3.1,
the first article distributor shall be subjected to the demonstrations marked "X" in column 1 of table II.
Failure of any demonstration or any demonstration reports shall be cause for rejection. All tests as
specified in 4.3, where applicable, shall be run on MIL-T-83133, grade JP-8. All tests as specified in 4.4,
where applicable, shall be run on either VV-F-800, grade DF2 or MIL-T-83133, grade JP-8.
4.3.3 Test Report. The contractor shall prepare and submit the first article test report to the
contracting officer for approval within the time frame specified (see 6.2). This report shall include a
detailed description of all examinations and tests performed, deficiencies encountered, and actions taken to
correct the deficiencies.
4.4 Quality conformance inspection.
4.4.1 Production examination. Each distributor shall be examined for the defects marked "X" in
column 2 of table I. Presence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
4.4.2 Production demonstration. Each distributor shall be demonstrated as specified in column 2 of
table II. Failure of any demonstration shall be cause for rejection.
4.5 Inspection schedule.
4.5.1 Examination. Each distributor shall be examined in accordance with table I. The presence of
one or more defects shall be cause for rejection. AQL shall be 1.0 percent defective.
