wiring in the DCA harness, which result in inability to obtain the measurements previously recorded with
the STE/ICE-R (see 4.5.2) shall constitute failure of this test.
4.5.2.14 Transportability tests. The distributor shall be tested for transportability as follows:
4.5.2.14.1 Tiedown provisions test. The tiedown provisions shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD-209 to prove conformance to 3.19.1. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.19.1 shall
constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.14.2 Slinging provisions test. The slinging provisions shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD-209 to prove conformance to 3.19.2. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.19.2 shall
constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.14.3 Air transport test. The distributor shall be tested in with MIL-STD-1791 to prove
conformance to 3.19.3. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.19.3 shall constitute failure of this
demonstration.
4.5.2.14.4 Rail impact test. The first article distributor shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD-810 to prove conformance to 3.19.4. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.19.4 shall
constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.14.5 Highway transport test. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.19.5 shall constitute failure
of this demonstration.
4.5.2.14.6 Parachute suspension provision tests. The first article distributor shall be tested in
accordance with MIL-STD-814 to prove conformance to 3.19.6. Inability to meet the requirements of
3.19.6 shall constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.14.7 Extraction parachute provision test. The first article distributor shall be tested in
accordance with MIL-STD-814 to prove conformance to 3.19.7. Inability to meet the requirements of
3.19.7 shall constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.5.2.14.8 Airdrop tests. The first article distributor shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD-669 to prove conformance to 3.19.8. This demonstration will be conducted by the Government
at a Government facility, however, acceptance of the first article models will be dependent on the successful
completion of this demonstration. The demonstration shall consist of the following:
a. Rig the machine in accordance with MIL-STD-669 and confirm that the rigged weight and
dimensions conform to the requirements of the AFSC Design Handbook DH1-11.
b. Drop test the machine in accordance with MIL-STD-669.
c. After the first drop, the machine shall be de-rigged, examined, started, and driven forward and
backward a few feet, and all controls shall be actuated.
d. The machine shall then be sectionalized and reassembled in accordance with the contractor's
instructions to ascertain that no damage was done to the sectionalization features by the test
drop. (This step is omitted for the type I machine).
