5.2.3 Level C. Each complete distributor, preserved as specified in 5.1, shall be packed to assure
carrier acceptance and safe delivery to destination at lowest ratings in compliance with Uniform Freight
Classification Rules or National Motor Freight Classification Rules.
5.3 Marking. In addition to any special marking specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2),
marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
6. NOTES
(This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful, but is not
mandatory.)
6.1 Intended use. The water distributor covered by this specification is intended for world-wide,
earthmoving and construction projects by the Armed forces in engineer troop support use in soil
stabilization, soil compacting, dust alleviation, and limited fire fighting.
6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a. Title, number, and date of the specification.
b. Issue of DODISS to be cited in the solicitation, and if required, the specific issue of individual
documents referenced (see 2.1.1).
c. Type of water distributor required (see 1.2).
d. Number and type of first article distributors, time frame required for submission, and whether
the Government will conduct any or all of the examinations and tests. When the Government
will conduct some but not all of the first article examinations and tests, the contracting officer
should specify which examinations and tests will be conducted by the Government and which
examinations and tests shall be conducted by the contractor (see 3.2).
e. When a DCA is not required (see 3.16.7).
f.  When additional test parameters are required (see 3.16.7).
g. Color required when other than as specified (see 3.23).
h. When overcoating with camouflage patterns is required (see 3.23).
i.  When the contractor shall provide camouflage pattern data (see 3.23.1).
j.  When special tools shall not be furnished (see 3.27).
k. When GFP is required to be furnished (see 3.30).
l.  Time frame for submitting first article test report (see 4.3.3).
m. Level of preservation and packing required (see 5.1 and 5.2).
n. Special marking required (see 5.3).
o. Timeframe for completing and submitting the vehicle classification (see 6.7).
p. When items on the basic issue items list are not required (see 6.8).
q. Time frame for completing and submitting a TIP (see 6.9).
r.  When transportability report required (see 6.11).
6.3 Consideration of data requirements. The following data requirements should be considered when
this specification is applied on a contract. The applicable Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) should be
reviewed in conjunction with the specific acquisition to ensure that only essential data are
requested/provided and that the DIDs are tailored to reflect the requirements of the specific acquisition to
