d.  Maintain an ambient temperature of minus 25 F (minus
32C) throughout steps (a) through (m).
Begin operational tests (see 4.6.2.13).

f.  Start the dispenser engine.  Engine should run on diesel
fuel in not more than five (5) minutes after beginning of
first cranking.
g.  One (1) operator wearing arctic clothing, including
mittens, shall perform all primary and starting operations.
h.  Crank the engine using batteries that were cold soaked
O
and stabilized at minus 25F (minus 32 C).
i.  Substitute or supplementary batteries or other
electrical cranking energy shall not be used.
j.  Glow plugs or other accessories working off the cranking
batteries and auxiliary fluid priming systems which are
permanently mounted on the dispenser and normally used in
starting the engine may be used.
k.  Smooth engine running without unnatural or continued
control manipulation and without use of primers and priming
fluids should be obtained within fifteen (15) minutes after
initial starting.
l.  When started, run engine fifteen (15) minutes After.
completion of the fifteen (15) minutes operation, operate
the engine as follows:
(1) Ten (10) minutes idling.
(2) Ten (10) minutes half throttle.
(3) Five (5) minutes full throttle.
Perform the twenty-five (25) minute cycle three (3) times.
m.  After engine cycling and while wearing arctic clothing,
continue with operational tests (see e).
n.  Upon completion of the operational tests, reduce ambient
temperature to minus 35F (minus 37.2C) and allow all
parts, lube oil, coolant, fuel, fluid and batteries to
stabilize at the specified temperature.
