3.3.22 Coolant Heater and Start Aid Assembly. The solenoid actuator
valve shall be disconnected from the ether cylinder. The cap (attached by
chain to bracket) shall be placed tightly over connection on ether cylinder.
The solenoid actuator valve and other metallic connections shall be coated
with type P-10 preservative. The solenoid actuator valve shall be secured to
bracket next to ether cylinder with tape, type IV, PPP-T-97. Coolant heater
shall have the fuel supply shut off valve, located at the inlet side of the
fuel filters, turned to the off position. The  main fuel line, supplying fuel
to the coolant heater, shall be disconnected at a point closest to the shut
off valve and fuel from fuel lines shall be allowed to drain. The interior of
heater shall be atomize sprayed with lubricating oil conforming to grade 10,
MIL-L-21260 and the end of the disconnected fuel line and shut off valve
sealed with plastic plugs/caps conforming to MIL-C-5501 or with tape
conforming to type IV, PPP-7-60. Prior to placing start aid kit in operation,
the cap from ether cylinder shall be removed and solenoid actuator valve
reconnected. Prior to placing coolant heater inoperation, the plugs/caps or
tape shall be removed from fuel line and shut off valve. Insure that fuel
tank is filled and shut off valve is opened. The coolant heater fuel pump
shall be operated and a minimum of one quart of fuel drained through the fuel
line into a portable container. The fuel lines shall be reconnected. Three
warning tags, each bearing the information - "SOLENOID ACTUATOR VALVE
DISCONNECTED FROM ETHER CYLINDER ON START AID ASSEMBLY - RECONNECT BEFORE
OPERATION. FUEL LINE DISCONNECTED AND SEALED ON COOLANT HEATER - REMOVE SEALS
AND RECONNECT FUEL LINE PRIOR TO STARTING HEATER", shall be prepared. One tag
shall be secured to preheat control switch on main control panel, one to
bracket or clamp holding ether cylinder, and one to inlet on coolant heater.
3.3.23 Operator's Control Box and Control Cables. The operator's control
box shall be secured on mounts inside operator's control box storage cabinet.
The 35 ft. and 12 ft. control cables shall be coiled and stored on the lower
shelf in the storage cabinet. The storage cabinet door shal be closed and
secured.
3.3.24 Doors, Covers and Panels. All doors, covers and panels shall be
closed and secured or locked, as required. This shall include, but is not
limited to, main control panel cabinet door, operator's control panel storage
cabinet door, on vehicle equipment door, BITE/Alarm control panel cabinet
door, magazine access doors, drive sprocket access doors, launcher wheel door,
muzzle cover, muzzle cover, records compartment door, infeed chute covers, magazine entrance
covers, battery box covers, launcher access cover and engine hinged panels.
Keys for padlocks used to secure doors shall be stored in the wood OVE storage
box (see 3.3.5).
3.3.25 Launcher Assembly. The launcher assembly shall be rotated
completely to the right side of the dispenser and secured in this position by
tightly attaching a metal strap, class 1, type I, finish B, size 3/4 in,
QQ-S-781, between the eye bolt located on the support plate of the launcher
assembly and the assist handle located on the outside edge of the right
magazine. A piece of solid fiberboard, PPP-F-320, shall be placed between the
strap and the metal of the dispenser at each contact point.
