MIL-D-63370(AR)
3.4.2 Oversea Address Marking. Oversea address marking shall be printed
or stenciled on separate pressure sensitive labels, six (6) inches high and
twenty (20) inches wide. Marking shall be 3/4 inch high, shall be spaced as
indicated on following example and shall be as specified in the shipping
order. When space is not adequate to accommodate the complete address using
3/4 inch characters, marking size shall be reduced to 5/8 inch or 1/2 inch.
Stenciling shall be waterproofed as in paragraph 3.4.1 f above.
3.4.3 Label Sizes. Label sizes shall be altered only when one or more of
the following conditions exist:
a. If 6 x 20 inch address label is not large enough to accommodate
specified marking, when using the minimum 1/2 inch lettering, label size shall
be increased as required.
b.  When unique configuration of the processed dispenser makes it
impossible to find a suitable location for either or both of the labels of the
prescribed dimensions, labels shall be altered as required to fit the
available space. Labels shall be of appropriate size to accommodate the
required stenciling.
c. Prior to using labels varying in size from the prescribed examples
cited, samples shall be submitted for approval to US Army Armament Research
and Development Command, Packaging Section.
3.4.4 Location of Marking Labels. CONUS shipment shall have one
preservation data marking label applied on the rear or right side near the
rear, on each dispenser and dispenser cover. Oversea shipments shall have one
preservation data marking label and one address marking label, applied on the
rear or right side near the rear, on each dispenser and dispenser cover. When
possible, labels shall be positioned on the dispenser at a height of not more
than six feet or less than four feet. When the above locations are not
practical, the best alternate location shall be used.
3.4.5 Certification.  Certification shall be furnished that labels
supplied are National Decalcomania Corportation, "Mac Tac Film with MR-1
Adhesive", Minnesota Mining Vinyl Film #3470, or equal, and comply with the
following additional requirements:
a.
White material with black printing or stenciling.
b.  Have been, or are capable of being printed, stenciled and
waterproofed with the following:
1. Paint conforming to MIL-P-8793, or ink or paint certified by
the manufacturer as equal, and compatible with label material used.
c. Labels furnished shall be capable of adhering to dispenser surface
or cover material for one year and printing or stenciling shall retain its
legibility for one year.
