2.1.3 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between
the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the
text of this specification shall take precedence.
3.2 Components and assemblies. The components and flare
assemblies shall comply with all requirements specified on Drawing.
(dwg.) 8836957, 9288866 and 9313553 when applicable, and with all
requirements specified in applicable specifications and standards.
3.3 Embrittlement of springs and retainer. The striker spring
(see dwg. 8864755), the trigger spring (see dwg. 8836975) and the
retainer (see dwg. 9282921), shall not break when stretched to the
minimum (min.) point of permanent distortion.
3.4 Jumble test. The flare assembly shall comply with the
following requirements.
The flare assembly shall not function
3.4.1 Flare assembly.
during the test.
3.4.2 Safety clip. The safety clip assembly shall not be
totally or partially disengaged after test.
3.4.3 Flare assembly. The flare assembly shall be safe to
transport after test (see 6.6).
3.4.4 There shall be no evidence of external damage to the
flare assembly that will affect the intended function (see 6.7).
3.5 Functioning.
The flare shall ignite and shall comply with
the following requirements.
3.5.2 Cold temperature (minus 342C) (minus 305F).
The flare assembly shall comply with the requirements of 3.5.1.
3.5.3 Temperature and humidity cycling. The flare assembly
shall comply with the requirements of 3.5.1 except that the pull pin
force shall be not less than 1.50 nor more than 8.00 pounds.
