3.3.1 Functioning. The feeder shall operate without stoppage
or breakage parts attributable to the feeder using Government stand-
ard 20mm, M51A1 dummy cartridges. The feeder shall completely strip
all rounds from the links, shall feed the stripped rounds into the
gun, shall eject the empty links completely from the feeder, and
perform its clutching and declutching function when opera at a
steady state feeding rate of 4000 to 4400 rounds per minute. A
steady state torque load of 80 10 pound-inches shall be applied and
measured at the booster take-off assembly drive point. Testing
shall be as specified in 4.5.3.2.
3.3.2 Endurance. Feeders shall be capable of withstanding the
feeding of 12,000 rounds of Government standard 20mm, M51A1 dummy
cartridges with a least 120 clutching and declutching operations with-
out functioning failures attributable to the feeder when operated at
a steady state rate of 4000 to 4400 rounds per minute. A steady
state torque load of 55 30 pound-inches shall be applied and measured
at the booster take-off assembly drive point. Testing shall be as
specified in 4.5.3.3.
3.4 Interchangeability.  Unless otherwise specified on the
drawings, all parts shall be interchangeable. Feeders and repair
parts shall be capable of meeting the interchangeability test specified
in 4.5.3.4.
3.5 Marking. The feeder shall be clearly marked in accordance
with the applicable drawings and MIL-W-13855. The identification
plate shall be fastened securely to the feeder by the screw without
relative movement. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), each feeder
shall be identified by a serial number assigned by the procuring
activity.
3.6 Workmanship. Workmanship shall be in accordance with
MIL-W-13855.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in
the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the per-
formance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as
otherwise specified, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities
suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified
herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves
the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification
where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and
services conform to prescribed requirements.
