4.3.3. 1.8 Determination of moisture content.
4.3.3.1 .8.1 Lead azide (see 3.13.1) - Major Defect - Code No. 27001.
The moisture content of the lead azide shall be determined for the first
article sample at the time of loading. A sample of 2 grams shall be
selected and tested as specified in 4.4.11. If the moisture content is in
excess of the specified percentage, any detonators already loaded shall
be rejected. A first article sample of detonator assemblies shall not
be submitted until proper corrective action has been accomplished as
verified by successfully repeating the moisture content test as specified.
4.3.3.1 .8.2 PETN (see 3.13.2) - Major defect - Code No. 27002.
The moisture content of the PETN shall be determined for the first article
sample at the time of loading. A sample of 5 grams shall be selected and
tested as specified in 4.4.12. If the moisture content is in excess of the
specified percentage, any detonators already loaded shall be rejected.
A first article sample of detonator assemblies shall not be submitted
until proper corrective action has been accomplished as verified by
successfully repeating the moisture content test as specified.
4.3.3.1.9 Waterproofness and functioning of detonator assembly
(see 3.14 and 3.15).  Detonator fails to function - Major defect -
Code No. 23009: Inadequate perforation of lead disc - Major defect -
Code No. 23010. - A sample of 125 detonator assemblies (dwg. 9240943)
shall be selected for the first article and tested as specified in
4.4.13 using test equipment as specified in 4.3.4. Rejection shall be
as specified in 4.2.3.
4.3.3.2 Production.
4.3.3.2.1 Solid film lubricant (see dwg. 8796419, 8796420 and
10048602) - Major defect - Star wheel - Code No. 26001; Pallet -
Code No. 26002; and Pinion gear - Code No. 26003.
A sample of 5
of each component shall be selected from each lot and tested as
specified in 4.4.4.  The component lot shall be rejected if one or
more components are classed defective.
4.3.3.2.2 Spring embrittlement (see 3.3) - Critical defect
Spring leaf No. 2 - Code No. 01005; Spring leaf No. 3 - Code No l
02005; Major defect - Spring rotor - Code No. 03006 and Spring
firing pin - Code No. 04006.  A sample of ten springs shall be
selected from each spring type included in each heat treatment
batch and tested as specified in 4.4.2. If one or more springs
are classed defective, the heat treatment batch shall be rejected.
