6.5 Testing of government owned initiators. The  contracting
officer will arrange to have the fuze contractor reimbursed for
expenses incurred in the performance of the check for
deterioration of detonators and primers when the contractor is
directed to perform the tests.
6.6 Calculations of sample standard deviations.
The sample standard
deviation shall be calculated using the formula as follows:
Where: S
=
sample standard deviation
X
=
numerical value for individual observations
X
=
average value for the sample
n
=
sample size
6.7 Calculation of outliers.  In order to test for the presence
of a mathematical outlier in a given set of test data the following
procedure will apply. Identify the highest value of arming time in the
set of test data as the suspected outlier and calculate a sample
average and sample standard deviation excluding the high value from the
computation. Then calculate a value for "K" using the following equation:
If the calculated value of "K" exceeds 2.9, then the high value is an
outlier.
6.8 Changes to previous issue. The margins of this specification
are marked to indicate where changes (additions, modification, corrections,
deletions) from the previous issue were made. This was done as a convenience
only and the Government assumes no liability whatsoever for any inaccuracies
in these notations. Bidders and contractors are cautioned to evaluate
the requirements of this document based on the entire content irrespective
of the marginal notations and relationship to the last previous issue.
