Government.  The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections
set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to
assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
.
4.1.1 Classification of Tests - Items covered by this specification shall be
subjected to the following tests to determine compliance with all applicable
requirements :
(1) Preproduction (First Article) Tests
(2) Initial Production Tests
(3) Acceptance Tests
4.2 Preproduction (First Article) Tests - Preproduction tests shall be
conducted by the contractor on a minimum of five equipments representative of the
production equipments to be supplied under the contract. Preproduction tests shall
include all tests delineated in column I of table 1.  Preproduction tests shall be
accomplished under the approved test procedures of 4.6.  The Government Inspector
and the procuring activity shall be advised when tests are to be conducted so that a
government representative may be designated to witness or supervise the tests when
so desired.  Contractors not having adequate facilities to conduct all required
tests shall obtain the services of a commercial testing laboratory acceptable to the
Government.
4.2.1 Environmental Test - The operational tests of 4.4.1.2 shall be performed
before and after each of the following tests and also during the tests in which MIL-
T-5422 specifies equipment operation during testing except that the voltage
adjustment of 4.4.1.2.1 shall only be performed prior to the first environmental
exposure.  Test results shall be forwarded in writing to the procuring activity for
review and approval.
4.2.1.1 Temperature/Altitude - This test shall be performed in accordance with
MIL-T-5422 (AS) paragraph 4.1 for Class 2 equipment, as required in 3.3.5.l(a).
4.2.1.2 Vibration - This test shall be performed in accordance with MILAT-
5422 (AS).  G levels of figure 6 will apply.  Curves I(a), 5 Hz to 2000 Hz frequency
range, will be used in accordance with 3.3.5.l(b).
4.2.1.3 Shock - This test shall be performed in accordance with MIL-T-
5422 (AS) paragraph 4.3 as required in 3.3.5.l(a).
4.2.1.4 Humidity - This test shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-T-
5422 (AS) paragraph 4.4 as required in 3.3.5.  Pre-test and post-test (within 1
hour) data shall be in accordance with 3.3.5.l(d).
4.2.1.5 Salt Fog - This test shall be performed in accordance with MIL-T-
5422 (AS) paragraph 4.5 as required in 3.3.5.l(e).
4.2.1.6 Explosion - This test shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-T-

5422 (AS) paragraph 4.6, and procedure I will be applicable as required in
3.3.5.l(f).
4,2.1.7 Fungus - This test shall be performed in accordance with MIL-T-
5422 (AS) paragraph 4.8 as required in 3.3.5.1(g).
