3.4.15 An overvoltage limiting circuit shall be incorporated in the excitation and
voltage regulation systen.  This circuit shall automatically limit generator overvoltage
to a value not exceeding the set value between 105 and 130 percent of rated voltage.  The
voltage limiting level shall be adjustable between 105 and 130 percent of rated voltage.
The normal setting for overvoltage limiting shall be 110 percent of rated voltage.
3.5 Drawings.
3.5.1 Electrical.  Drawings for the generator and excitation and voltage regulation
system shall be furnished in accordance with MIL-D-1900/2, types II and III.  Drawing use
categories are A, B, D, G, H and I of MIL-D-1000.  Contents of drawings shall be as specified
in MIL-E-917, MIL-G-3124, and MIL-R-2729 as applicable.
3.5.2 Engine Drawings of production or existing parts, components, or equipment
applicable to a contract or order shall consist of the manufacturer's commercial shop draw-
ings.  New or revised drawings shall be in accordance with MIL-D-1000/2, type II.  Drawing
use categories are A, B, D, G, H and I of MIL-D-1000.  Drawings shall include all parts of
the engine and accessories not exempted herein.
3.5.2.1 Accessory drawings.
The following accessory drawings shall be furnished:
(a) A cross section drawing with bill of material for the following:
(1) Regulating and overspeed governors
(2) Cold start device
(3) Lube oil filter
(4) Thermostats or temperature regulators
(5)  Starting system components
(6) Air intake filter/silencer
(7) Pneumatic control devices
(8)  Fuel oil filter and strainer
(9) Mufflers
(10) Coolers
(11) Water filter
(b) An outline drawing for the following accessories:
(1) Tachometer
(2) Tachometer generators
(3)  Pressure gages
(4) Thermometers
(5) Thermocouples
(6) Flexible exhaust hose
(7) Expansion tanks
(8) Valves,  (relief, safety, throttling, regulating, reducing, and similar
types ) .
(c) Drawings of items on qualified products lists and standard hardware that are
fully described in bills of material and drawings of pieces used in the
fabrication of welded parts shall not be included.
3.5.3 Generator set installation drawing or drawing. Installation drawings for the
combined diesel generator set shall be furnished in accordance with MIL-D-1000/2, type II
and shall contain the following information.  Drawing use categories are A, B, and G of
MIL-D-1000:
Dimensional outline drawings (four view drawings) of the generator set and
(a)
each detached accessory.  These drawings shall identify and show the location
of shipbuilder connections, mechanical and electrical.
Foundation bolting details.
(b)
Piping system diagrams, showing pipe sizes, type of connections, relative
(c)
location of coolers, valves, strainers, filters, thermometers, gages, alarm
devices, and quantity, pressures, temperatures of oil, air and water.
Data table as necessary to clearly describe all equipment, including capacities
(d)
of pumps and blowers at rated speed, rated BHP, BMEP, RPM, type numbers,
ratings (volts, amperes, rpm, KW, torque and so forth), name of manufacturer(s).
Table of weights showing wet and dry weights of all major units weighing 100
(e)
pounds or more and of the complete generator set package.
Centers of gravity of engine and generator and of the combined generator set
(f)
in at least 2 planes.
A sketch of the engine gage board showing mounting features and the location
(g)
and identification of all gages.
Clearance required to remove generator rotor, generator air cooler, and engine
(h)
parts (see 3.1.2.11.1).
