MIL-G-58103
3.6 Performance.
3.6.1 Switch Operation.  All switches shall be operable without undue
hand repositioning for normal operation of switches by the thumb and fore-
finger. The wearing of authorized gloves shall not unduly reduce the fa-
cility of operation of any switch nor the switch guard. Actuating force
and actuator throw distance for the switches shall be as prescribed in their
respective specifications. There shall be no binding of actuation nor
limitation of travel due to fit of the switches on/in the body of the grip,
On-off positioning of the switch actuator shall result in positive make-
break contact action.
3.6.2 Dielectric Withstanding Voltage.  When switches are tested as speci-
fied in 4.7.3, they shall withstand the application of the specified voltages
without acring, breakdown of insulation, or visible damage to the switch
parts. There shall be no flashover or leakage in excess of 1 milliampere.
3.6.3 Operation at Altitude.  When tested as specified in 4.7.7.3, the
switches shall withstand the application of the specified voltages without
arcing, breakdown of insulation, or visible damage to the switch parts.
There shall be no flashover or leakage in excess of 1 milliampere,
3.6.4 High Temperature.  When the assembly is tested as specified in
4.7.7.4, there shall be no plastic deformation, separation, or breakage of
the molded parts comprising the basic grip body (see 3.3.2). At the maximum
temperature specified in 4.7.7.4 all switches shall operate in conformance
with their respective design requirements.
3.6.5 Low Temperature.  When the assembly is tested as specified in 4.7.7.5,
there shall be no separation, spalling or cracking of the molded parts com-
prising the basic grip body (see 3.3.2) nor displacement of any of the
switches in their mounts. At the minimum temperature specified in 4.7.7.5$
all switches shall operate in conformance with their respective design re-
quirements.
3.6.6 Strength of Assembly.  When the assembly is tested as specified in
4.7.6, there shall be no breakage. There shall be no loosening of com-
ponents or damage to the basic assembly nor to any of the installed parts
which results in failure to function in accordance with 4.7.2 and 4.7.3.
3.6.7 Vibration.  When the assembly is tested as specified in 4.7.7.1,
there shall be no separation of closed switch contacts or closure of open
contacts having a duration exceeding 10 microseconds. There shall be no
evidence of damage to any part of the assembly which results in failure
to function in accordance with 4.7.2, 4.7.3 and 4.7.4.
