3.5 Performance.
3.5.1 Wiring and rotation.  The motor shall rotate in a counterclockwise
direction as viewed from the fan end when the unit is examined in accordance
with 4.6.2 through 4.6.2.2, with assignment of voltage as specified by the
procuring activity (see 6.2).
3.5.2 Gel mobility.  The average flow of the gelled fuel produced by the
unit shall not exceed 4 inches in 60 1 seconds when tested in accordance
with 4.6.3 through 4.6.3.3.
3.5.3 Blending.  The unit shall blend the gelling agents in the ratios of
4.8 to 5.04 volumes of Solution A (see 6.4) and 2.42 to 2.54 volumes of
Solution B (see 6.4) per 100 volumes of fuel in accordance with 4.6.4 through
4.6.4.2.1.
3.5.4 Capacity.  The unit shall deliver gelled fuel at a minimum rate of
35 gallons per minute (gpm) from the gel-discharge hose when operated in
accordance with instructions given in 4.6.4 through 4.6.4.2.2 with a suction
head of 6 1 feet for solutions and fuel.
3.5.5 Leakage.  There shall be no gage indicated pressure drop and no
external leakage from any joint, shaft seal, or mating surface of the unit
when subjected to 150 5 pounds per square Inch gage (psig) pressure in
accordance with the testing procedures specified in 4.6.5 through 4.6.5.1.
3.5.6 Pressure switch requirements.  The pressure switch shall
automatically shut down the unit within 20 seconds after the supply of
Solution A is depleted.  Functioning shall be tested in accordance with 4.6.6.
3.5.7 Temperature switch.  The temperature switch shall automatically shut
down the unit when the aviation gasoline (115/145 octane) in the fuel section

is 175 5 F.  Functioning shall be tested in accordance with 4.6.7.
3.6 Environmental.  The unit shall meet all the requirements as specified
herein during operating and after non-operating exposure to the following
environmental conditions when tested as specified in 4.6.8 through 4.6.10.
