3.2 Parts and materials.
3.2.1 Nonstandard parts and material approval.  Approval for the use of
nonstandard parts and materials shall be obtained by the contractor as
specified in MIL-E-5400.
3.2.2 Basic conformance.  Parts and materials selected for use in the
equipment shall be in accordance with MIL-E-5400. Parts shall be selected
from those conforming to MIL-STD-965, unless the parts selected will not
perform as required in the intended applications and environments specified
herein in which case 3.2.1 shall be used to select and obtain approval for
nonstandard  parts.
3.2.3 Interchangeability. The control group shall meet the interchange-
abillty requirements of MIL-E-5400 Drawing DL 475AS150 shall be the standard

3.3.1 Dimensions.  The dimensions of the control group shall be not
greater than specified in table I.
3.3.2 Total weight.  Total weight of control group shall be not greater
than 3.18 Pounds (1.44 kilograms).
3.3.3 Reliability.
3.3.3.1.  Operational stability=   The control group shall meet the
performance requirements of th is specification when operated continuously or
intermittently for a period of at least one MTBF (752 hours) wfthout the
necessity for readjustment of any controls which are inaccessible to the
operator during normal use.
3.3.3.2 Operating life. The control group shall have a total operating
life of 5,000 hours with a minimum servicing and replacement of parts.
3.3.3.3 Reliability in Mean-Time-Between-Failure (MTBF). The control
group shall have a minimum of 752 hours or mean (operating) time between
failures when tested and accepted as specified in 4.5.3.

Normal routine testing of the control group shall be accomplished using
Government furnished Distribution Box J-3416A/AWW (see 3.6) and the standard
test equipment normally available in intermediate maintenance shops.
