3.8 Performance.
3.8.1 Heat output - When tested in accordance with 4.5.4.5, the heater
.
shall conform to the heat output requirements specified in Table II.
Table II.
Minimum Heat Output
The above minimum shall be otained when operating in minus 50 F ambient
temperature, consuming diesel fuel in accordance with VV-F-800, Grade DF-A.
3.8.2 Fuel.
The heater shall operate without adjustment and as speci-
fied herein on any of the following fuels:
(a) Gasoline conforming to MIL-G-3056, Type II.
(b) Jet fuel conforming to MIL-T-5624, Grades JP-4 and JP-5, in
ambient temperatures above the pour and cloud points of the fuel.
(c) Gasoline conforming to VV-G-76, regular grade.
(d) Leaded or aromatic fuels up to 100-octane grade.
(e) Diesel fuel conforming to VV-F-800, Grades DF-A and DF-1, in
ambient temperatures above the pour and cloud points of the fuel.
3.8.3 Cold starting.
The heater shall start and operate at 19 volts
electric input within the time periods specified using the fuels at the
ambient temperatures specified in Table 111. Combustion shall become
selfsustaining, clean, and steady within the specified time periods.
