3.2.2.1 Length. The length of the rope shall be 150 feet with a permissible
tolerance of plus 7.5 feet. Prior to cutting the rope, the section to be cut
through shall be wrapped tightly with two turns of 2-inch width tape, type IV,
color OD 7, conform to PPP-T-60. The rope shall then be cut at the center of
the tape seared smooth and even.
3.2.2 Hardware. The rope assembly, snaphook, Drawing 11-1-3368; harness
ring, Drawing 11-1-599: and governor,Drawing 11-1-707, shall show no evidence
of failure when tested as specified on the applicable drawings.
3.2.3 Operator's manual and log record card. One operator's manual and one
log record card shall be furnished with each lowering device assembly (see 6.4).
The log record card only shall be furnished with each governor assembly when
procured seperately.
3.2.4 Stitches and stitching.
3.2.4.1 Carring case. Thread breaks, bobbin runouts, or two or more more
consecutive skipped stitches shall be restitched not less than 1 inch over each
end of teh defect. Runoffs shall be restitched to conform to the required
stitch pattern. Ends of stitching (except for 3.2.4.3) shall be backstitched
not less than l/2-inch, except where ends are turned under in a hem or held down
by other stitching. Thread ends shall be trimmed throughout.
3.2.4.2 Harness and governor assembly. Stitching defects shall not be
repaired.
3.2.4.3 Automatic stitching. Automatic Stitching machines may be used to
perform any of the required stitch patterns provided the requirements for the
stitch pattern, stitches per inch, size and type of thread are met; and at least
three or more tying, overlapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends
the
of stitching.
3.3 Marking. Identification marking of each component shall be in accordance
with the applicable drawing.
3.4 Special marking. When applicable (see 6.2), the procuring activity will
provide attractors with serial numbers for application to each governor. The
serial number marking shall be in accordance with Drawing 11-1-707.
3.5 Workmanship. The workmanship shall conform to the quality of product
established by this specification and the occurrence of defects shall not exceed
the applicable acceptable quality levels.
