MIL-L-83491A(USAF)
The inspection requirements specified
4.2
Classification of inspection.
herein are classified as follows:
First article inspection (see 4.4)
(a)
Quality conformance inspection (see 4.5).
(b)
Test conditions
4.3
Atmospheric conditions.  Unless otherwise specified, all tests shall
4.3.1
be made at an atmospheric pressure of 28 to 32 inches of mercury, at a
temperature of 77 degrees `(plus or minus 18 degrees) Fahrenheit, and at a
relative humidity of 80 percent or less.
Temperature correction.  If the temperature at the conclusion of
4.3,1.1
a test differs from the temperature at start of the test, correction shall
be made for the change in value as follows:  Subtract 0.031 psi for each
degree Fahrenheit rise in temperature from the final pressure reading,  Add
0.031 psi for each degree Fahrenheit drop in temperature from the final
pressure reading.
4.3.1.2 Barometric pressure correction.  If the atmospheric pressure at the
conclusion of a test differs from the atmospheric pressure at the start of the
test, correction shall be made for the change in value as follows: Add 0.049
psi for each 0.1 inch of mercury rise in barometric pressure to the final
temperature-corrected pressure reading.  Subtract 0.049 psi for each 0.1 inch
of mercury drop in barometric pressure from the final tc~nperature-corrected
pressure reading.
4.3.2
Sequence of inspection.  The individual inspection shall be performed
in the sequence listed in 4,5.1.  The inspection specified for sampling plan A
shall be performed in the sequence listed in 4.5.2.1.
* 4.3.3
Inflation assemblies,  The inflation assemblies required to accomplish
the tests specified herein shall be furnished by the manufacturer of the life
raft .  Each inflation assembly shall be a fully charged carbon dioxide cylinder
and valve assembly that conforms to MIL-I-87108.
* 4.4
First article inspection.  The first article inspection shall consist of
all of the methods of inspection described herein.  The first article samples
shall be subjected to the first article inspection as follows:  The LRU-16/P
life raft shall be subjected to all of the methods of inspection described
herein except the burst strength tests described in 4.6.6.1 and 4.6.6.2. The
LRU-17/P life raft shall be subjected to all of the methods of inspection
described herein except the burst strength tests described in 4.6.6.1 and
4.6,6.2 and the canopy and floor inflation test described in 4.6.5.  The
