4.5.3  Delay assembly functioning.
The delay assembly shall be
functioned by dropping a suitable weight from a height adequate for
functioning.
The delay time shall be recorded to determine
The diameter of the perforation of the
compliance with the drawing.
(Note. - The minimum hole diameter is
lead disc shall be measured.
that hole which will receive a plug gage equal to the minimum size
specified.
A dead load of not more than five pounds should be
applied to the gage in this determination to avoid false diameters
resulting from burrs, raised metal, etc.)
4.5.4  Specific qravity of explosive charge.  The specific
gravity of the explosive' (bursting) charge shall be determined as
follows:
Weigh mine empty (without explosive) and record.
a.
b.
Place mine in loading line at random and fill with
explosive under conditions identical in all respects to these
employed to fill regular mine (see 4.4.2.6).
c.  Each of the marked mines filled with explosive will be
allowed to cool.
Remove pouring funnel from mine.
d.
e.  Weigh mine and subtract empty weight from loaded weight
to determine weight of explosive charge.
f.
Remove explosive riser from pouring funnel.
Weigh explosive riser on balance and record as dry
g.
weight.
h.  Weigh explosive riser completelysubmerged under
water.  Water temperature shall be 68 degrees Fahrenheit (F.) plus
Record the weight as weight under water.
or minus 2 degrees F.
(When submerged the position of the explosive riser shall be such
that no air is entrapped).
Specific gravity shall be calculated as follows:
i.
Specific gravity
where:
A = dry weight
B = weight under water
