MIL-M-45974(WC)
c. Examine machine guns, partially assembled machine guns, and
components (including components and subassemblies at
in-process or final assembly) to insure that material con-
taining the same defect is purged from the inventory and
not presented to the Government for acceptance.
d. Submit the results of the failure analysis and the corrective
actions taken to the Government for review and approval
prior to submitting a reconditioned lot or reconditioned
subassembly for retest.
4.5.3.2 Firing pin indent testing.  Ten machine guns selected at
random from each inspection lot shall be tested for firing pin indent
(see 3.3.1) using the test method specified in 4.6.1. Failure of any
machine gun in the sample to meet the requirements shall cause rejection
of the represented lot.
Each machine gun shall be tested for
4.5.3.3 Heads ace testing
headspace (see~ 3.3.2 using the test method specified in 4.6.2. Machine
guns failing to meet the requirements shall be rejected.
4.5.3.4 High-pressure resistance, functioning firing, and targeting
and accuracy testing.  Each machine gun shall be tested for high-pressure
resistance (see 3.3.3), functioning firing (see 3.3.4) and targeting and
accuracy (see 3.3.5), using the test methods specified in 4.6.3, 4.6.4
and 4.6.5, respectively.  Machine guns failing to meet any of the require-
ments shall be rejected.  Also, if machine guns are fired for targeting
and accuracy at a range of less than 100 meters, a sample of five machine
guns (which have passed the test at the shorter range) from each inspec-
tion lot shall be tested at a range of 100 meters using the test methods
specified in 4.6.5.  Failure of any machine gun in the sample to meet the
requirements shall cause rejection of the represented lot.
4.5.3.5 Endurance testing.
4.5.3.5.1 Lot size.  The first five endurance test lots shall each con-
sist of 200 machine guns or a month's production, whichever is smaller.
When five successive lots meet the endurance requirements, the lot size
shall be increased to 500 machine guns or a months production, whichever
is smaller.  When five successive lots of the increased size have met the
endurance requirements, the lot size shall be further increased to 1,000
machine guns or a month's production, whichever is smaller. If rejection
of a lot occurs at any time, the next smaller test lot size criteria shall
be reinstated and the above procedure repeated in returning to the larger
lot size.
4.5.3.5.2 Procedure.  One machine gun randomly selected from each
endurance lot shall be tested for endurance (see 3.3.6) using the test
methods specified in 4.6.6.  The contractor shall provide replacement
