3.7.1.5 Parking ability.  When the emergency parking brakes are applied,
the wheels shall remain locked on grades up to 40 percent despite the
depletion of the compressed air supply.
3.7.2 Rail transports.  Each vehicle shall withstand impact forces encoun-
tered in rail transporr witout breakage or permanent deformation. Sectional-
ization for rail transportiation shall be within the dimensional limits shown
on figure 1. Sectionalization and reassembly of each unit listed in 3.2 shall
3.7.3 Air transport.  Sectionalization for air transportation shall be
within the dimensional limits shown on figure 2. Sectionalization and
reassembly shall be accomplished as specified in 3.7.2.
3.8 Vehicle servicing and adj usting.  Prior to delivery of the vehicles,
the supplier shall adjust and service each vehicle for travel use including
at least the following:  Adjust brake system; check electrical system; inflate
all tires; and completely lubricate the chassis and components as specified
herein.
3.9 Vehicular components. The cart-trailer and semitrailer components
shall be as specified herein.
3.9.1 Intervehicular connections.
3.9.1.1 Truck-tractor and semitrailer. The semitrailer shall be furnished
with airbrake couplings as specified in 3.9.7 `and the electrical intervehicaler
receptacle as specified in 3.9.9 for COnnecting-- the truck-tractor airbrake and
electrical systems to the semitrailer systems.  The couplings and the receptacle
shall be installed on the front of the semitrailer, symmetrical about the
centerline in accordance with SAE J702.  Clearance about the couplings and the
receptacle shall permit connection of the truck-tractor hoses and harness tO
the semitrailer without interference with the upper fifth-wheel plate or
other components.  The airbrake couplings shall be protected with metal spring
dirt covers.  The electrical receptacle shall have pigtail leads terminating
within junction boxes or a splashproof, semitrailer-type, nosebox. The nose-
box shall also house the three circuit breakers as specified in 3.9.9 for
the protection of the service-lighting circuits.
3.9.1.2 Truck and cart-trailer.  Each trailer shall be furnished with an
intervehicular electrical harness as specified in 3.9.9. with airbrake lines
as specified in 3.9.7.2 for connecting the trailer to the truck, and with two
safety chains.  All intervehicular components shall be installed on the
trailer so that they shall extend between 36 and 42 inches toward the prime
mover from the center of the lunette eye.  A plug clip shall be furnished
