belt-conveyor feeder. The struck capacity of the fine-aggregate"happer with-
out extensions shall be not less than 25 tons (12-1/2tons each bin). Hopper
and bin extensions shall increase the capacity of each bin by not less than
6 tons.

3.14.3 Reciprocating feeder. When a reciprocating feeder is furnished
instead of a belt-conveyor feeder for the coarse-aggregate hopper, the recip-
rotating feeder shall be of' the pan type and shall be not less than 24 inches
wide. The feeder shall permit the handling of two sizes of aggregates and
shall receive material from the coarse-aggregate hoppers.
3.14.4 Belt-conveyor feeder(s). The belt-conveyor feeder shall consist of
a suitable steel frame, conveyor belt, head-end (drive) pulley, tail-end
pulley, carrier rolls, and return rolls. Straight carrier rolls shall be
mounted under the belt to support the aggregate as it is discharged from the
fine-aggregate hopper. Steel dust pans shall prevent dust and aggregate from
falling onto the backside of the conveyor belt. Steel side plates and rubber
flashing shall be provided to prevent spillage of aggregate from the sides as
it is discharged from the hopper. A steel enclosure shall be provide at the
discharge end-of the belt feeder to direct the aggregate to the cold-aggregate
elevator. Pulleys and rollers shall be mounted on steel shafts and supported
by antifriction bearings.
3.14.4.1 Conveyor belt. The conveyor belt shall conform to ZZ-B-206, type A,
class 2, grade 375, 30 inches in width, with the following exceptions: The
top cover shall be 1/8 inch thick and the bottom cover shall be 1/16 inch
thick with a skin coat between all `plies. The tensile strength of the top and
bottom covers shall be not less 2,500 psi. The friction pull between
plies and cover shall be not less than 16 pounds. The ends of the belts shall
be laced with metal fasteners suitable to the type belt supplied and to the
diameter of the pulleys used. Conveyor belt in accordance with RMA grade 2,
2-ply all nylon carcass, 30 inches in width is also acceptable.
3.14.4.2 Belt scraper. A belt scraper shall be provided to prevent buiZ&
up of meterial on the feeder belt-conveyor return rolls. The -scraper shall
be single-rubber-blade, spring-loaded, replaceable. The blade shall be of
neoprene rubber not less than 1 inch thick with a tensile strength not less
than 1,200 psi and a durometer hardness between 65 and 75.
3.24.4.3 Bearings. Head and
