3.14.4.4 Takeup adj ustment. The belt-conveyor feeder(s) tail-end section
shall be provided with a takeup adjustment mechanism to obtain belt tension.
The takeup mechanism shall consist of two acme thread arrangements (one per
side).  The total takeup shall be not less than 12 inches, including not less
than 3 inches negative takeup.
3.14.4.5 Belt carriers.  The cold-feeder conveyor belt carrier rolls shall
conform to MS16961 Return rolls shall conform to MS16964.
3.14.4.6 Head pulley.  The cold-feeder head pulley shall be constructed of
steel, crowned, provided with lagging, and shall be not less than 8 inches in
diameter. The outside surface of the pulley prior to affixing lagging shall
be concentric with the shaft within a total indicator reading of 0.060 inch,
except a total indicator reading of 0.090 inch is permissible in the area
immediately adjacent to a longitudinal weld.
3.14.4.7 Tail pulley  The cold-feeder tail pulley shall conform to the
requirements for the head pulley except that lagging will not be required.
The pulley shall `be self-cleaning.
discharge spout, drives, and gearboxes.  Means for ajusting and maintaining
alinement and tension of the driving mechanisms shall be provided.
3.15.1 Capacity. The cold-aggregate elevator shll have a discharge capac-
ity of not less than 180 tph when
3.15.2.1 Buckets. The buckets shall be steel of a thickness not less than
1/4 inch.  Each  shall  have a capacity of not less than 1/2 cubic foot.
Buckets shall be installed by bolting on the bucket-line chain with not less
than four steed bolts.
3.25.2.2 Bucket-line chain.  The bucket-kine chain shall be of the roller-
chain type. The maximum design load shall not exceed 15 percent of the
ultimate tensile strength of the chain or chains. The pitch and number of
chains shall be at the discretion of the supplier.
