3.19.10 Platform scale.  A platform scale for weighing the sampling con- ,

tainers shall be provided.  The scale shall have a capacity of not less than
300 pounds and shall conform to NBS Handbook H44.
3.20 Fines feeder.  The fines feeder shall consist of a hopper, screw
conveyor, drives, supporting frame, and all accessories or other components
required for the operation of the fines feeder as specified herein.  The fines
feeder shall `be either ground mounted or integral mounted with other components.
3.20.l Capacity.  The fines feeder shall have a capacity to feed not less
than 4 cubic feet per minute of granular mineral filler.
3.20.2 Hopper, The hopper shall be constructed of sheet steel of not less
than 0.1345 inch nominal thickness and shall have a capacity of not less than
300 pounds of granular mineral filler.  The maximum height of the hopper shall
be not greater than 7 feet.  `The hopper shall feed into a screw conveyor. .
3.20.3 Screw conveyor. A screw conveyor or other means shall be provided
under the hopper to accurately proportion the fines material within a range
of 1/2 to 4 cubic feet per minute into the plant.  Screw shafts shall be
either solid steel or steel pipe and shall be provided with antifriction
bearings. Screw flighting shall be steel not less than 3/32 inch thick at
the outer edge.
3.20.4 Drive.  The fines feeder shall be provided with shafts, universal
joints and gearboxes, chain and sprocket, or other equally suitable drives.
A jaw-type clutch shall be provided to disengage the feeder operation.
3.21 Portable conveyor.  The portable conveyor shall conform to MIL-C-392,
except that the length shall be as required to deliver aggregate into the
mixer hopper as specified in 3.1 without exceeding the maximum slope as
specified in MIL-C-392 when the mixer is supported by the operating jacks as
specified in 3.9.5.
3.21.l Gasoline engine.  The gasoline engine shall conform to MIL-E-11275,
group II.  The following accessories, conforming MIL-E-112725, shall-be
furnished:
(a)
A 15-gallon fuel tank with fuel tank cap gasket, filler neck, and
filler neck cap conforming to MS35643, M535644, and MS35645.
(b)  Manual cranking system.
(c)  24-volt electric cranking system with 18-ampere charging generator
and regulator, with batteries conforming to MS35000-1 and battery
box, and without charging receptacle.
(d)  Instrument panel with battery-generator indicator, fuel quantity
indicator, hand choke control, starter control, high temperature
control of engine shutoff type, and electric hourmeter conforming
to MIL-M-3971/1-1.
