.
3.22.8 Metering pump.  A positive-displacement, variable-volume, jacketed
metering pump shall be provided to supply bitumen to the bitumen spray bars.
The pump shall have a controllable capacity range of not less than from 9 to
70 gpm in not less than 30 preselected rates with an accuracy of within plus
or minus 1 percent when pumping bitumen with a penetration grade of 85 to 100
at a temperature between 250 and 300 F. through the installed spray-bar
system. Two pumps maybe supplied to meet the volume and accuracy require-
ments.  If two pumps are provided, they may be either interchangeable or both
mounted on the mixer.  The arrangement shall allow both pumps to operate
simultaneously.  The pump shall be provided with a positive mechanical drive
which shall be interlocked with the apron feed drive of the gradation control
