QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.
4.1  R e s p o n s i b i l i t y f o r inspection and standard quality assurance
p r o v i s i o n s .  U n l e s s otherwise specified herein or in the contract,
the provisions of MIL-M-38510 shall apply and are hereby made part
o f t h i s d e t a i l s p e c i f i c a t i o n ,  T h e supplier is responsible for the
p e r f o r m a n c e of all inspection requirements as specified herein, and
t h e supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for
t h e performance of the tests and inspection requirements specified
h e r e i n , unless disapproved by the Government.  I n addition, the
G o v e r n m e n t reserves the right to witness or to perform any of these
t e s t s and inspections set forth in this specification where such
t e s t and inspections a r e deemed necessary to assure that supplies
a n d services conform to prescribed requirements.  The Government
r e s e r v e s the right to audit the data resulting from the
m a n u f a c t u r e r ' s performance of these tests and inspections.
4 . 2 C l a s s i f i c a t i o n o f i n s p e c t i o n s .  The following types of
i n s p e c t i o n shall be conducted on this item.

F i r s t Article Inspection
b.
Q u a l i t y Conformance Inspection
Screening
c.
4.3 First article inspection,
4 . 3 . 1 Submission.  T h e contractor shall submit a first article
sample as d e s i g n a t e d by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in
a c c o r d a n c e with the provisions of 4.3.2.  T h e f i r s t a r t i c l e
i n s p e c t i o n lot size after screening shall consist of fifty (50)
d e v i c e s , minimum.
4 . 3 . 2  I n s p e c t i o n to be performed.  F i r s t a r t i c l e i n s p e c t i o n
s h a l l be in accordance with the applicable requirements of
M I L - M - 3 8 5 1 0 and as modified by this specification, except that the
p r o c u r i n g agency shall be the qualifying activity.  F i r s t a r t i c l e
r e q u i r e m e n t s shall consist of inspections specified in subgroups "a"
through "g" listed in TAble 111.  F i r s t article items may be
s u b j e c t e d by the qualifying activity (Government) to all of the
e x a m i n a t i o n s and tests specified in this specification and to any
r e q u i r e m e n t s of the applicable drawings.
a.  S c r e e n i n g .  S c r e e n i n g shall be performed on all devices
i n accordance with the inspection flow specified in 4.4.2.1.
