sight deviations in the "X" and "Y" coordinates in seconds of arc. The
positioning of the telescope on the test stand assembly shall be such that its
optical axis is parallel within 5 seconds to Datum Plane "A" of the Mount
Assembly 11834835 when the periscope mount, assembled to the mounting plate,
is positioned on the test stand in accordance with 3.4. The optical axis of
the telescope shall also be perpendicular to the mirror surface of the body
assembly device (see 4.5.2.3.2.3) within 5 seconds, when the body assembly
device is assembled to the periscope mount.
4.5.2.3.2.3 Body assembly device.  The body assembly
device shall have
the required keys, datum planes, external dimensions, and
weight (45 pounds)
of the Body Assembly Drawing F11834841. A mirror surface
finish shall be
incorporated on the device for utilization in the line of
sight retention
measurements of the mount by means of auto-collimation.
4.5.2.3.2.4 Vibration test stand assembly.  The vibration test stand
assembly shall function as a holder for the mounting plate assembly with the
mount (with body assembly device installed) maintained in its normal operating
position.  Features shall be designed into the vibration test stand assembly
that will assure positive and secure mounting of the mounting plate assembly
on the vibration test stand.  The vibration test stand shall be firmly and
securely mounted on a vibration machine.
4.5.2.3.2.5 Vibrating machine.  The vibrating
machine shall be capable of
providing the amplitude and frequency specified in
3.5.  The vibrating machine
shall also be capable of vibrating the mount along
3 mutually perpendiuclar
axes while the mount is maintained in the position
specified 3.4.
4. 5.2.3.3 Insertion and removal, operability of controls and wiper
mechanism operation.  The special testing equipment for these tests shall
consist of a holding device.  The holding device and head assembly device
shall conform to the requirements specified in 4.5.2.3.1.  The body assembly
device shall conform to the requirements specified in 4.5.2.3.2.3.
4.5.2.3.4 Set-up and calibration.  Rigidity, stability, ease of
maintenance, and adaptability of set-up and calibration equipment with
complete provisions are prime requirements.  All set-up and calibration
equipment necessary for certification of the testing equipment accuracy shall
be furnished and will become a part of the testing equipment.
4.6 Test methods and procedures.
4.6.1 Storage temperatures.  Testing equipment utilized in this test
shall be in accordance with the "Test Facilities" requirements of MIL-F-13926
and the conditions of 3.3.1.  The mount assembly shall be exposed to each
specified temperature extreme for a minimum of 5 hours.  Subsequent to the
temperature exposures, the mount assembly shall be stabilized in an ambient
0
0
temp, between +60 and 90 p and subjected to the audible, tactile, and
visual examination of 4.6.4.1.  The mount shall show no evidence of physical
failure as specified in 3.3.1.
