3.15.2 Pass/fail criteria.  Pass/fail criteria for
qualification components will be as follows:
(1) Electrical and mechanical laboratory tests - The
components must pass all tests to the specified sampling
plan for qualification as defined on the applicable
component drawings and specification, otherwise the
qualification sample shall be rejected.
3.16 Data requirements.  The contractor shall generate data
in accordance with the requirements of the data item descriptions
cited in 4.4.2.1 through 4.4.2.52, as applicable.
3.17 First article inspection.  The specification contains
technical provisions for the first article inspection.
Requirements for the submission of first article samples by the
contractor shall be as specified in the contract.
3.18 Workmanship.
3.18.1 Workmanship - demonstration mine.  The Demonstration
Mine shall be free of dirt, grease, chips, gouges, cracks, and any
other defects which would make the item unsuitable for its
intended use.
3.18.2 Workmanship - parts and assemblies.  Parts and
assemblies shall be free from chips, dirt, grease, and other
foreign matter that may impair proper functioning.  Cleaning
methods used shall not be injurious to any of the parts nor shall
the parts be contaminated.
3.18.3 Workmanship - packaging, packing and marking.
Packaging and packing materials shall not be water- damaged or
contain excessive moisture.  They shall not be torn, broken or
otherwise damaged, and shall be suitable for the intended use.
All marking shall be neat, accurate, and sharply defined.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection.  Unless otherwise
specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is
responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as
specified herein.  Except as otherwise specified in the contract
or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other
facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection
requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the
Government.  The Government reserves the right to perform any of
the inspections set forth in the specification where such
inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services
conform to prescribed requirements.
