the caster assemblies.

d.  Parking brakes (except when using casters) to brake both rear wheels
shall be included in the running gear,  Parking brakes control shall be
located on the forward left hand corner of the frame, at a height of 48 inches and
easily accessible so persons moving the platform can stop the platform as required.
e.  Towbar shall be provided at the front of the maintenance platform.  The
towbar shall be permanently attached and shall have provisions to be locked in place
in its vertical position.  The towbar weight shall be held to the minimum to allow
one person to steer the maintenance platform into position against the aircraft.
3.4.7 Platform Load Capacity.
Load capacities shall be as follows:
a.
Upper level floor - 1000 pounds
Lower level floor - 500 pounds
b.
c.
Upper level floor folding door - 400 pounds
d.
Total platform - 1000 pounds
e.
Staircase stair - 200 pounds
3.4.8 Platform Guard Rails,  All platform floor levels shall be surrounded by
sturdy, guard rails,  Guard rails shall contain a kick guard four inches high and
shall otherwise be designed to the requirements of MIL-STD-1472.
3,4.8.1 Upper Floor Level Guard Rails.  Guardrails shall be provided around the
upper floor including the platform landing except for that width where the stairs
meet the platform landing, and around the fuselage floor cut-out, however a four
inch kick guard shall be included all the way around the fuselage cut-out edge.
3.4.8.2 Lower Floor Level Guard Rails.  The floor end next to the stabilizer
shall not have a guard rail but shall have a 4 inch kick guard. The inboard floor
side shall also have a 4 inch kick guard,  The outboard floor side guard rail must
clear the aircraft stabilizer by at least 24 inches.  Where handrails are ommitted,
removable safety nylon netting shall be used to meet safety requirements. The
netting shall enclose the platform end and extend around to join with the guard
rail.  The netting shall extend between the lower and upper level floors and shall
be attached to both floors.  The netting on the platform end shall be fitted loosely
to allow at least 8 inch give in the middle between the lower and upper floors.
3.4.9 Upper Floor Level Bumper.
a.  A flexible rubber bumper, four inch O.D. shall be securely fastened to
the rear platform ends around the fuselage floor cut-out, to prevent damage to the
aircraft being serviced,
