MILITARY SPECIFICATION
NAVIGATIONAL SET, TACAN AN/ARN-105
This specification has been approved by the Naval
Air Systems Command, Department of the Navy
1.
SCOPE
1.1 S c o p e - The equipment covered by this specification
shall, when installed in aircraft, provide bearing, distance and
tone identity information to indicate the location of a complementary
surface station with respect to the aircraft. The equipment shall
a l s o provide, as a discrete auxiliary function, information to
indicate the link distance with respect to a similarly equipped
a i r c r a f t . This equipment is the airborne portion of the short
range air navigation system known as TACAN (Tactical Air
Navigation).
