BITE I/II - This PBI shall provide triple action
3.5.5.5.9
control for Built In Test of the Converter.  The operation and illumi-
nation of this PBI shall be as follows:

In the BITE-I mode the Converter shall perform a hardware selftest with
performance indications being displayed on the LED's and ASA-66. Data
from the Navigation Computer shall be ignored and the ITADS Status
Discrete shall be held in the NO-GO condition while in BITE-I. When the
RADAR mode is entered during BITE-I, a hardware self-test of the radar
section contained in the Converter shall be performed. The RADAR self-
test shall utilize the CRT. as an indicator of Radar performance.
In the BITE-II mode, all other controls and readouts on the Converter
shall be allowed to function normally. When BITE is depressed, amber to
green, all functions shall be restored to normal and the BITE-OFF
function code shall be formulated in the Command Word.
LAMP TEST - This momentary action PBI, when activated,
3.5.5.5.10
shall test the green and amber lamps of all PBI's, all segments of the
LED displays, green and amber states of the Marker Status display indicators,
and the illuminated state of the GRAM/TRACE select indicating pushbuttons.
SPARE 1 - This momentary action PBI shall be normally
3.5.5.5.11
illuminated green, and when actuated shall generate the spare function code
in the Command Word. The PBI shall not be labeled and shall be opaque.
